Polyurethanes are arguably the most versatile synthetic materials around. Seventy-five years after the first patent by Otto Bayer at I.G.Farben in 1937, there are still thousands of PU related patent applications and hundreds of scientific articles published annually.
In this blog I weekly present a very short summary of one or two patent applications selected from the most recently published literature: just a few words on the essence (the “gist”) and why they made the list. I will also discuss some important historical patents presented as “Classic PU Patent of the Month”. Over the years I hope that this blog will become a true representation of “Innovation in Polyurethanes”.
